In October of 2021 while leading his pack horses back to the trailhead another hunter heard the approaching horses, thought it was a bear, and began shooting at Jesse and his horses. Jesse recounts seeing the muzzle blast at close range and the events that transpired. He also shared several charging brown bear stories from years of guiding in Alaska.
