We know our time on this world is temporary. We are all going to move on to the world to come. Heaven, hell, paradise, purgatory, Olam Haba, Judgment day, call it what you want, but you will face it one day. How will you be judged though? It doesn't have to be a bad thing. You can work on yourself very hard in this world, work on your attributes, fix that which you've damaged, ask for forgiveness from those that you've wronged, be a good person. Judgement day is only scary if you have what to hide and be ashamed of. So stop hiding, be a person of truth, and prepare to have the best and easiest trial of your life. Hashem (God) gave us Teshuva, repentance and atonement and confession, because he wants us to use it, and he wants us to have a good trial and go straight to heaven. Better to confess and repent in this world, and erase the sins, then have to stare at the sins in front of the heavenly court with no options.
