Such a refreshing and honest inspiring class from Rav Dror Moshe Cassouto, at The Backyard in Manhattan. We are always chased by thoughts of sadness, the yetzer hara (Evil inclination) always tell us how bad we are, and tries to separate us from our friends and families, and make us feel unwanted, unimportant, and different. But we are never alone in our prayers. Our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Leah, Moses, Aaron, King David, etc. all the way to our generation, they are all with us all of the time, walking with us. But what's going on though? How does God work? Because a lot of times we see that we are praying, and putting in our effort, but Hashem (God) does not listen. Our lives and situations stay the same. But it is only because we don't feel the spiritual achievements of what we are doing. We are too connected to the physical, and we can't see how we re indeed growing spiritually through all of our efforts. The way to remove the physicality, which is blocking our eyes from seeing God, it to do teshuva, to repent and confess. When you repent and confess, in a basic and simple way, God completely erases the sin that is blocking our eyes from seeing spirituality, from seeing God. We need to be like king David and keep on pushing through the spiritual and emotional darkness, to find God in our lives and to find our souls. God is everywhere, creating and recreating the world every second. God is in technology, God is in nature, God is in Google, God is in iphones, God is everywhere. The reason that we can't see God and feel God is because of our sins, and the way to clean the sins is through repentance, confession, and teshuva. We need to find time for hitbodedut, to talk to Hashem in simple prayer, every day, and ask him to help us with every difficulty and challenge that we are facing in life, whether physical or spiritual.
