Yes, the snake, satan, the devil, the evil inclination, the yetzer hara, call it wha you will, his only power, is the power to play with your imagination. To make you afraid, to play on your fears and feelings, and worry you. The evil inclination tells you that you’re bad, and that God doesn’t love you, but God himself tells us over and over again in the scriptures and the prophecies and the verses that he DOES love us, and that we ARE good. And all of the righteous people in every generation - all of the Tzadikkim, tell us how much Hashem loves us and how much we should count on Him and trust him to take care of us. But the yetzer hara, satan, tells us not to, and makes us afraid. But why listen the yetzer hara? Why do we choose to listen to the voice of the serpent, the lying snake, when we could choose to listen to the voice of God and his holy messengers? We are good. Hashem (God) created us in His image, exactly the way he wants us to be and serve Him. So why so we let the negativity and negative thoughts tell us that we are no good and that there is something wrong with us? We are exactly the way God wants us to be. And we need to work on believing only in God’s love, and God’s compassion, and not to listen the devil who tries to scare us with punishment and hell. God judges us much more favorably and mercifully than we judge ourselves. God doesn’t judge us the way the devil judges us. The way to think positive and to start being happy, is to stop listening to the voice of Satan and start listening to the voice of God.
