In this teaching, I will be discussing the types and shadows in the Old Covenant and in the New Covenant, when Moses presented the Torah in Stone tablets to the children of Israel. The first covenant at Mount Sinai was broken when Moses came down from the mountain and found the Israelites worshiping the golden calf. This was the covenant of bondage spoken about by the Apostle Paul in Galatians 4:24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Hagar. 25 For this Hagar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. 26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. But then, Moses went up a second time and when he returned the second time, the Stone Tablets were not broken! But instead they were deposited into the Ark of the Covenant! When Moses came back down the second time and presented the Torah the second time, this is a prophetic picture of the New Covenant which was deposited into the ark. When Moses came down the first time and found Israel playing the harlot, the Torah in Stone Tablets were broken and this is a picture of our Messiah and his body being broken for us on the cross to redeem us from the curse that came to Israel when we broke our marriage contract with Yehovah. This happened at Mount Sinai. When Moses went up the second time, and returned with a new set of Torah in Stone Tablets, these were not broken, but they were accompanied by the sacrificial system(the cross) which was set up as the Tabernacle of Moses! This happened at Mount Horeb! When the Apostle Paul spoke of two covenants he used Hagar the Egyptian woman as the symbol of bondage and this first covenant which was broken. But when Moses presented the second set of tablets at Mount Horeb, this is symbolized by Jerusalem with the sacrificial system (the redemption of the cross) and the Tabernacle of Moses. The Feast of Weeks (Shavuot/Pentecost) is self same day wherein Moses presented the second set of stone tablets that were deposited into the Ark of the Covenant. On the original Shavuot/Pentecost, this occurred fifty days after the Feast of First Fruits (Exodus 34:22, Deuteronomy 16:16). The second prophetic fulfillment of Shavuot/Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit presented the Torah in fleshy tables of the heart to the disciples fifty days after Yeshua Messiah's First Fruits resurrection! And so we see what the Apostle Paul was speaking about when he mentioned two covenants. He used Mount Sinai as the illustration of the covenant that brought Israel into bondage because they broke the marriage contract. But the New Covenant was foreshadowed in the second set of stone tablets which were presented at Mount Horeb and we see prophetically how this ties into the New Covenant! Malachi 4:4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
In these last days, before the Spirit of Elijah can come to "restore the hearts of the fathers (Israel's Patriarchs) to the hearts of the children" (Israel's children, the church), we must first REMEMBER THE LAW OF MOSES AT HOREB, THE COVENANT THAT WAS DEPOSITED INTO THE ARK! The Covenant at Sinai was broken but the Covenant at Horeb was deposited! We can see the Old Covenant pre-figured at Sinai! We can see the New Covenant pre-figured at Horeb! These are TWO COVENANTS! |
