FITMAS…. FITMAS Challenge…. On the 6th Day of FITMAS my coach gave me…. STRIDE INTO SPEED!

FITMAS Challenge: The Purpose of Strides: Strides are not just another run; they're a purposeful exercise designed to boost your speed and running efficiency.

Here's your mission: Run 20 Minutes at an Easy Pace: Maintain a Heart Rate Zone 2/Conversation Pace.

Strides:

-Five sets of quick/easy strides during the middle or end of your run.

-Each stride lasts about 20 seconds.

-Start at an easy pace, gradually increase speed, reach your 5K race pace, then slowly decelerate.

-Rest for 60-90 seconds between each stride.

Strides Are Not Sprints:

-The purpose is to improve speed and running economy.

-Train your body to run more relaxed and comfortable at your race pace.

-Ideal Setting:

-Look for a flat/level area or a slight decline, about 100m in length (soccer field or straight on a track).

Benefits of Strides:

-Bring blood into your working muscles.

-Wake up your legs.

-Prepare your mind for the race ahead.

-Strengthen fast-twitch muscle fibers.

-Improve running form.
