The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold their regular 6:00 p.m. meeting tonight at Joshua Tree Elementary, rescheduled a week early from their usual second Tuesday. MUSD’s list of inappropriate Adult-Student Interactions will be updated, along with staff recognitions, introductions on new staff, and a recap of a recent track and field event. Reporter Gabriel Hart has the meeting’s agenda.
For the meeting’s agenda, there will be three new Board Policy updates regarding Appropriate Adult-Student Interactions, which expands its list to eighteen examples of inappropriate employee conduct. Beyond inappropriate physical contact in all forms, the list includes obscene or abusive language, transporting a student in a personal vehicle, communicating through social media, or being alone with a student outside of the view of others.
The Board will recognize honorees of the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators. Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Stacy Smalling will give an introduction on new staff members. Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education Dr. Gracie Gutierrez will give a presentation on last month’s Elementary Track and Field Event.
For Action Items, the Board is requested to proclaim May 13 as Day of the Teacher and declare May 17-23 as California School Employees Week.
The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. tonight (5/5) at Joshua Tree Elementary, located at 4950 Sunburst Avenue.
