The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees will hold their regular meeting tonight (4/21) at Joshua Tree Elementary, rescheduled from last week.

For the meeting’s agenda, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Stacy Smalling will give updates on the Enrollment Committee, Recruitment Fair, along with a presentation on the Teach Morongo Program. 

Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education Amy Woods will give a presentation on MUSD receiving site designation to teach CISCO Networking Academy curriculum, where students will learn cybersecurity and information technology (IT) skills.

The Board is requested to approve three new certificated jobs for Aspiring and New Teacher Development Program Specialist, a Teacher Development Coach, and an Expanded Learning STEAM Lab teacher.

There will be a policy update to reflect a new court decision (Mahmoud v. Taylor) which holds that the First Amendment prohibits a district from including LGBTQ+ storybooks as part of elementary school instruction without providing parents/guardians notice and the ability to opt out students out of that instructional content. 

Finally, The Board will conduct a public hearing on Interfund Borrowing, a temporary transfer of cash between district funds to cover short-term cash flow shortages, often caused by timing differences in property tax or state funding receipts.

The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. tonight (4/21)  at Joshua Tree Elementary School, located at 4950 Sunburst Avenue.
