Description:

Copper Mountain College’s long running literary arts journal HOWL is now accepting submissions for their 2026 issue, open not only to students but all community members.

CMC’s HOWL art and literary magazine has been a platform for student and larger community creativity and storytelling since 1996. Founded by Greg Gilbert, each year it brings together students and community members who share their voices through a variety of creative work, from memoir, fiction, and poetry, along with photography and other visual art.

HOWL celebrates creativity in all its forms (though AI is prohibited) and continues to grow through the contributions of our students, faculty, staff, and the hi-desert community.

HOWL was the one of the first hi-desert journals I was published in back in 2016, and I remember the confidence it gave me when I was aiming to establish my writing locally and meet other writers, so if the literary world appears difficult to navigate when you’re just starting out, I’d say HOWL is a great place to start on an immediate community level.

Deadline for the 2026 issue is Friday, February 27
