The Twentynine Palms Planning Commission held their last meeting of 2025.
There were no announcements or public comments and the consent calendar was swiftly approved.
During the study session on maintaining the roads, Community Development Director Keith Gardner informed the meeting of the following:
“We’ve been working on this internally for a while. So next month I’m going to take a formal list before the City Council for their approval. A maintained road list is not subject to Planning Commission approval or jurisdiction, but I wanted to let the Planning Commission know what we’re doing and take this as far along as we can. So we have done a lot of research as to what the City has historically maintained and we have asked Caltrans, the State and the County to see if they have any roads that they’ve maintained that we’ve inherited that we’ve formally adopted as part of our road system. We have historically maintained things by practice and we are now formalizing this. It’s going to be mapped and it’s going to be available for public review so there’s going to be no question as to what the City does maintain and doesn’t maintain.”
The next item studied was the progress made on updating the City’s General Plan and allowable land uses. Research has been done into privately-owned parcels to determine if they are consistent with the land use designation. The goal is to simplify and consolidate the language in the General Plan.
The next Planning Commission meeting will take place on January 20th 2026.
