The Morongo Valley Community Services District is proud to continue its annual Operation Gobble program, providing Thanksgiving meals to local families in need.
Thanks to the generosity of local partners, MVCSD provides Thanksgiving meals each year to families who might otherwise go without. Golden State Water has continued its long-standing tradition of donating $912 toward the purchase of turkeys, and this year, the Morongo Valley Cookie Company has contributed an additional $900 to help reach even more households.
With the ongoing government shutdown impacting SNAP benefits for millions of families across the country, including right here in Morongo Valley, the MVCSD is expanding their efforts this year by organizing a Thanksgiving canned food drive, to ensure every family that receives a turkey also has the side dishes and essentials to enjoy a complete meal together.
The Turkey Giveaway will be on November 22, with the Hot Meal Distribution on November 24 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Meals will be prepared by Chris Cross, owner of the Morongo Valley Cookie Company along with local volunteers. Delivery is also available—Morongo Valley residents can call ahead to be added to the delivery list for hot meals only.
Supplies are limited: Turkeys and meals will be first come, first served, and Morongo Valley residents must call to get on the list to reserve theirs.
Donations of canned goods, non-perishable items, or monetary contributions are being accepted through November 21.
Those wishing to donate can contact the MVCSD office at (760) 363-6454 or email b.chavez@morongovalleyfire.org to arrange a drop-off or pickup.
