Description:

The Landers Homestead Valley Association meet tonight to discuss all things Landers related, including an update on the proposed hotel on Belfield Boulevard.

The proposed commercial plaza and hotel called “The Landing” would be built on a 5.7 acre, commercially zoned lot on the East side of Belfield Boulevard approximately 300 yards from Reche Road. While this project was strongly objected to by local residents, it seems the way has been cleared to move forward, as no variances or exceptions are being sought by the project owners. The application for a minor use permit to build the 35 room hotel with accompanying restaurant, lodge, health club, market, shade structure and covered parking, is being processed by the County.

Representatives from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station, 34th district State Assemblyman Tom Lackey’s office, as well as the office of County Supervisor Dawn Rowe will present their reports.

The Landers Trading Post and Thrift was re-opened in September and during two weekends business was booming. The backlog that built up while the shop was closed has been sold, leaving the clothes, household goods and other items you’ve been looking for!

The Highway 62 Open Studio Art Tours continue, but this upcoming weekend is your last opportunity to visit over a dozen artists in the Landers Homestead Valley area and many more throughout the Morongo Basin.

Located at Belfield Hall, 58380 Reche Road, opposite the Post Office in Landers, the meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. and lasts one hour. The Public is encouraged to attend.
