High temperatures remain despite removal of heat warning

Description:

Though the Morongo Basin is no longer considered to be under a “heat warning” from the National Weather Service, temperatures in our area are still excited to peak past 110 degrees Friday. Twentynine Palms is expected to hit 114 Fahrenheit.

As a reminder, all San Bernardino County libraries in the Morongo Basin serve as cooling centers. That includes the Twentynine Palms Branch, located at 6078 Adobe Rd, the Joshua Tree Branch, located at 6465 Park Blvd and the Yucca Valley Branch, located at 57271 Twentynine Palms Highway. Our local libraries are open Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m

If you are able, stay indoors from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., when the sun’s rays are the hottest. If you expect to be outside while the sun is shining, be sure to bring more water than you think you need. Sweating removes salt and minerals from your body, so replenish these nutrients with low-sugar fruit juices or sports drinks during exercise or when working outside.
