A fire at a mobile home in the 6000 block of Adobe Rd. in Twentynine Palms claimed the life of a man and sent a woman to the hospital with severe burns, according to San Bernardino County Fire Chief Dan Munsey.
Fire crews from Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley responded to the fire on Saturday morning, and according to Chief Munsey the fire was fully involved when they arrived. One resident was outside the home with burns when crews arrived, and as firefighters battled the flames inside the mobile home, they discovered a elderly male resident who had succumbed to injuries from the fire.

The incident is under investigation from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office. The names of the victims are being withheld until confirmation from the Sheriff’s department.
Chief Munsey said it is unclear whether the residence had a working smoke detector. He said that in his career that every fire-related death he’s encountered was in a building without working smoke detectors, and he urged the community to make sure your home’s smoke detectors are working and cover the entirety of your home.
