In the latest episode from CIPE’s Anti-Corruption & Governance Center, we welcome Cecilia Müller Torbrand and Ann Shazell, two experts on compliance and international trade, to talk about one of the largest and most sophisticated international anti-corruption coalitions in the world: the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN). Muller Torbrand, who currently serves as MACN’s CEO, joins Shazell, who is a Global Lead Lawyer at Cargill International and serves as MACN’s Vice Chair, to discuss how public-private collaboration is crucial to combatting corruption in sea-based trade. Joined by CIPE host Katya Lysova, Senior Program Officer for Eastern Europe, the guests tackle the need for global nongovernmental organizations to recognize collective action organizations as an effective anti-corruption strategy and share how MACN is using data to analyze the types and scale of corruption in the global maritime sector. |
