Description: Molly Crabapple is an award-winning artist and writer who has reported on the refugee crisis in Greece, Guantánamo Bay, disaster capitalism in Puerto Rico, and the war in Syria. She illustrated and co-authored “Brothers of the Gun: A Memoir of the Syrian War” with Marwan Hisham, a Syrian journalist living in exile in Turkey. They first started collaborating in 2014, when Hisham was still living in ISIS-occupied Raqqa. He would send her photographs of life under ISIS, and she would draw illustrations of them.
