Midland States Bancorp Inc.'s shares are higher after the bank holding company made its biggest deal since going public last year. The southern Illinois-based lender agreed to buy Alpine Bancorp, which focuses on the northern part of the state, for cash and stock valued at $181 million. Midland States said the deal will increase earnings by about 10 percent in 2019.
