Have you ever wondered if there’s more to life than what you are experiencing?  Do you feel as if you are somehow behind, because the life you are living is not the one you envisioned?  Do you sense that you were created for something greater? 

These days, everyone wants to know what their “thing” is. You know, the thing you do even though you are exhausted…the thing your friends and family remind you doesn’t pay the bills. Some people are fortunate to find a passion early in life but many of us–most of us actually–struggle to identify our purpose or become frustrated when the path to our purpose isn’t clear. 

The truth is that the journey to discovering your purpose is often not as linear as you might expect it to be.  Life is full of unexpected twists, turns, and zigzags.  While you can’t predict what life will bring, you can learn to follow God’s lead, even when you are required to make a grand  pivot. 

In this episode, I’m talking with Emmanuel Acho, former NFL linebacker, NY Times best-selling author, Emmy award-winning television broadcaster, creator of the popular YouTube series Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man, and current Fox Sports analyst.  Emmanuel is  living a life he loves but he didn’t get there doing the thing he thought he would be doing.  Emmanuel and I discuss his story of how his decision to pivot led him directly into the path of his true purpose in life. Fun fact, I’ve known Emmanuel since he was about 6 or 7 years old and I was one of his first babysitters! It’s been amazing to watch his journey unfold and to see him live out his dream. 

Are you in a season where you need to pivot?

Listen y’all, a pivot is not a failure, it’s a course correction.  If you are in a season where you need to pivot, resist the urge to compare your journey to someone else’s. Seek and trust the voice of God.  Trust that He can not only get you to the right destination, but that He has a handle on your journey.
