Fertility coverage is expanding for millions of Californians. A new law is requiring the diagnosis and treatment of infertility to be covered by large employer health plans, as well as expanding eligibility to single individuals and the LGBTQ+ community. But there are still limitations. State Senator Caroline Menjivar is the author of the bill and she joins us today to discuss what it means. 

California Homicide Rates Drop

After spiking in the early years of the pandemic, homicides in California have taken a turn for the better. Governor Gavin Newsom even touted the state’s declining homicide rate during his final state of the state address. But the reason behind this drop is not exactly clear. Nigel Duara is a Justice Reporter with CalMatters and joins us to offer context.
