Pandemic Spike in Sac Home Values
It’s probably little surprise that home values across Sacramento have gone up since the pandemic. But a new look across the four-county region is telling us just how much real estate has skyrocketed, finding there are now 18 zip codes surpassing the $800,000 mark - back in 2019 there was just one. Mengyuan Dong is a data reporter at the Sacramento Business Journal and joins us with a look at the dramatic increase in home values across Sacramento, Yolo, Placer and El Dorado counties - as well as how it compares to state and national trends.
Overdose Deaths in Sac Shelters
An investigation by The Sacramento Bee found six people died of drug overdoses or suspected overdoses in Sacramento-run homeless shelters since January 2024. The deaths represent a small subset of the at least 330 homeless people who have died in Sacramento over that time. However, their death taking place at a government facility is drawing greater public scrutiny. The Bee’s Regional Watchdog Reporter Theresa Clift joins Insight to talk about her investigation and what she found.
Be Brave Bold Robot’s 20th Anniversary Album
Be Brave Bold Robot is celebrating nearly 20 years of playing music in the Sacramento scene with the release of a new album, “WORTH IT.” It’s the band’s 7th record since 2007. Known for witty lyrics and a mix of musical styles, Be Brave Bold Robot will perform songs from their latest album this Friday, Dec. 12 at the Torch Club. Today on Insight, we’ll meet some of the band members and hear some songs from “WORTH IT.” |
