City Council Approves Natomas Basin Development
CapRadio Local Government Reporter Riley Palmer joins us to talk about the Sacramento City Council voting 5 to 2 in favor of a commercial warehouse district to be developed on protected land in the Natomas Basin. The project has drawn lots of public comment both for and against, pitting economic development against concerns for the surrounding wildlife and neighborhoods.
Conserving Battle Creek Ranch
Conservationists are celebrating a new project in the North State aimed at supporting wildlife and restoring a critical waterway. River Partners recently announced it has acquired the 1,700 Battle Creek Ranch in Tehama County, which sits on the banks of one of the most important salmon and steelhead streams in the Sacramento River watershed. Jennifer Norris, Executive Director of the Wildlife Conservation Board, John Cain, senior director of conservation at River Partners and CDFW Director Chuck Bonham talk about what the next steps are for the land, and how it fits into larger statewide conservation efforts.
