COVID Vaccine Eligibility Confusion
The latest COVID-19 vaccines have been FDA approved. But figuring out if you’re eligible, is confusing. For the first time since the pandemic, federal guidelines are restricting access to many Americans. And that is sparking backlash among California and other western states, which have formed an alliance to come up with its own recommendations to make getting a shot more accessible. CapRadio Reporter Riley Palmer helps untangle what access and eligibility looks like across Sacramento.
Latino Book & Family Festival
A celebration of literacy, culture and community is returning to the region this weekend. The third annual Sacramento Latino Book & Family Festival will be held at Valley High School Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., offering culturally relevant books, live music, author workshops, lowriders and more. In addition to being an anchor for KCRA, Leticia Ordaz is also an accomplished author and publisher. She’ll be speaking with Dolores Huerta at this weekend’s event. We’ll learn more about it from her and festival organizer Irvis Orozco.
September Arts Events
Back in June, the City of Sacramento put out a call for artists to participate in the Creative Growth Arts Program. Those grants have been awarded and we’ll learn what that means for area artists. Plus, the visual arts are in the spotlight, with a variety of shows and events planned throughout the month. We’ll learn more in this month’s Arts Talk. Arts advocate Veronica Rodriguez is back with more news from the region’s art scene and tips on things to see and do this month.
