Suicide Rates in the Central Valley

Suicide is among the leading causes of death in the Central Valley, according to a review of state and federal data done by The Intersection, a project of the Central Valley Journalism Collaborative. Health reporting fellow Tim Sheehan took a look at the data and joins us today to talk about those most at risk and what services are available for those in need.

Sacramento’s Film Scene

Sacramento on the big screen! The capital city is making entertainment waves with major motion pictures - including a comedy with its namesake. All of this as the city, and the state, are working to draw-in the next big flick. Sacramento Film Commissioner Jennifer West discusses the new incentives for productions. And filmmaker and ABC10 Entertainment Anchor Mark S. Allen gives us a lesson about Sacramento’s legacy in the film world.

California State Fair Opens

Corn dogs, carnival rides and concerts under the stars - it’s definitely summer time in Sacramento. The California State Fair kicks off this Friday, July 11 and runs through July 27 at the Cal Expo fairgrounds. Darla Givens is the media director for the California State Fair and joins us with a preview of what to expect.
