82 days. That’s how much time Mayor Darrell Steinberg has in his final term serving the city of Sacramento. On Dec. 10 he will turn over leadership to one of the two candidates currently running for mayor: epidemiologist Dr. Flo Cofer or State Assemblymember Kevin McCarty. This morning, Steinberg delivered his final State of the City speech outside of what will become Aggie Square, which is still under construction. Musician Alex Jenkins and ‘Black Bird’

A Sacramento jazz musician is celebrating the release of his latest album. Percussionist and music educator Alex Jenkins is the leader of the Alex Jenkins Trio, which will be holding a release show for the new album Black Bird at Twin Lotus Thai on Sept. 21. Alex talks about his new release, his musical journey, and what it’s like performing while living with cystic fibrosis.
