We are devoting our hour to the latest on the winter storm. We’ll have an updated forecast with NWS, plus updates from local and statewide emergency services on what is being done to mitigate the damage, flood risk and power outages.  

California's storm forecast and damage

Meteorologist Cory Mueller with the National Weather Service Sacramento provides the latest forecast, as well as rain and snow totals.  

SMUD Spokesperson Lindsay VanLaningham discusses widespread outages impacting hundreds of thousands of customers over the weekend. 

CapRadio Managing Editor of News Nick Miller shares his reporting on a series of storms over the past two weekends.  


Storm resources

Matt Robinson, Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services provides an update on flood risk, school closures and resources for vulnerable residents.  

Diana Crofts-Pelayo, with California Office of Emergency Services, explains the state’s response and recovery across Northern California, as well as President Biden approving an emergency declaration for the state. 


Water and flood infrastructure

Jay Lund, Co-Director of UC Davis Center for Watershed Science, explains the series of atmospheric rivers’ impact on reservoirs, levees, and other critical water and flood infrastructure.
