Women in Saudi Arabia are celebrating a newfound freedom - the ability to drive. The conservative kingdom has changed the law to allow females to get behind the wheel. While it's undoubtedly a big step forward, restrictive male guardianship rules that govern women's lives remain in place. So, are female motorists a sign of real change in Saudi Arabia, brought about by its young ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman? Or is this change just a distraction from a struggling, oil-dependent economy, and criticism over the war in Yemen? Today's CNN Talk panel takes on the issue, with anchor Hannah Vaughan Jones and panelists Ayesha Hazarika, Iain Dale and Liam Halligan. via Knit |
