At 12:01am Eastern time on Tuesday, new U.S. sanctions against Iran go into effect. The measures are sure to hit hard, further isolating the already economically-troubled nation, just as new international investment was beginning to come in. U.S. President Donald Trump set the new sanctions in motion when he controversially pulled out of the Iran deal back in May. But officials in Iran say the measures are deeply unfair, particularly as they have met all the requirements of the deal.
