Tech giants are having an identity crisis. Are they supposed to police the content that appears on their website, or are they simply disinterested publishing platforms? Several tech giants decided this week to take the first approach, and ban controversial far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from their platforms. Facebook, YouTube and Google all say Jones' material violates their policies against hate speech. But Twitter says Jones hasn't done anything wrong.
