Description: Only on the "CBS This Morning" podcast, New York Times international correspondent David D. Kirkpatrick joins CBS News' Elane Quijano to discuss his new book, "Into The Hands of Soldiers: Freedom and Chaos in Egypt and the Middle East." Kirkpatrick was the Times' Cairo bureau chief in 2013 when a military coup overthrew Egypt's first democratically elected president, Mohamed Morsi, and replaced him with General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The book contains new reporting about the U.S. role in the ousting of Morsi, including the phone call President Obama had with the embattled leader just days before his removal. Kirkpatrick describes how the failures of authoritarianism have led to the chaos we continue to see across the Arab world.
