	Description:		US shares rose on Thursday in the last hour of trading after an earlier dive. The S&P 500 index gained 0.9%, reversing a decline of as much as 2.8% earlier in the day. Cary Leahey of Decision Economics talks about the winners and losers and what may be roiling the markets. In the UK, traditional post-Christmas spending is down. The main reason is as big discounts have become so commonplace, shoppers are not much swayed by more end of year sales deals in the shops.
