In this episode, Erol Yayboke and Melissa Dalton discuss what they’ve learned so far in their ongoing CSIS effort, supported by Chemonics International, centered on the implementation of the Trump Administration’s Stabilization Assistance Review (SAR). The SAR is a joint framework created in 2018 by USAID, the Department of State, and the Department of Defense that aims to improve effectiveness of the U.S. government in stabilization operations in conflict-affected areas. Melissa and Erol discuss the major challenges and opportunities to implementation of the SAR as presented in a recent policy brief. Melissa describes the high-level takeaways of this brief and provides a sneak peek at an upcoming policy brief that touches on other important areas of SAR implementation, including the role of partnerships with allied and international institutions in stabilization contexts. |
