Description: FARGO The North Dakota State softball team finally shook its offense loose and defeated Kansas City 11-3 in five innings in the second game of a Summit League doubleheader on Saturday at Tharaldson Park.

The Bison, who broke a nine-game losing streak, lost 4-0 in Saturday's opener, marking the third time NDSU had been shut out in the three games before its win. In seven losses prior to the game two victory, the Bison were outscored 25-5 and shut out five times.

In the second game, the Bison rolled from the start, scoring four runs in the first inning and five more in the second.

The Roos took advantage of a Bison error to score three unearned runs in the third inning but NDSU got two of those runs back in the home half of the inning on Emilee Buringa's two-run home run to left field.

The Bison had 12 hits, six for extra bases, including four home runs.

NDSU's Jasmyn Yessian got the run barrage started with a three-run home run in the first inning and Ava Chavarria followed with a solo homer. The Bison scored all four first-inning runs with two outs and were aided by a Roos error.

Anjolee Aguilar-Beaucage was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and a double, and Buringa was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Reanna Rudd was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Macy Fry was 2 for 3 with a triple. Chavarria was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Kaitlyn Dunford got the start and went all five innings to improve to 6-4. She allowed the three unearned runs on six hits and struck out one.

In the first game, Kansas City pitcher Camryn Stickel was in control throughout, firing a three-hitter. She walked two and struck out two.

In the last four innings, Stickel retired 12 of 13 Bison hitters, allowing only Rylee Henderson's lead-off single in the fifth. Henderson was erased on a fielder's choice and Stickel then set down the final eight Bison in order. Buringa and Bella Dean had the Bison's other hits.

Stickel got all the help she needed in the second when KC's Katie Noble walked with two outs and Sydney Nichols followed with a two-run home run to center field. Noble singled in an insurance run in the fifth.

The Bison are 4-10 in the Summit League and 17-32 overall. The Roos fell to 5-9 in the league and 17-27 overall.

The teams play the third and final game of their weekend series at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 28, at Tharaldson Park. It's NDSU's final regular-season home game of the season. They wrap up the season with three games at South Dakota on May 3-4 in Vermillion, S.D.
