Description: FARGO - The offseason overhaul of the North Dakota State men's basketball roster has begun.

Sam Hastreiter, Lance Waddles and Josh Streit all have entered the NCAA's transfer portal Monday, the first day of the period opening.

They join Jamestown native and senior guard Boden Skunberg, who went thru Senior Day celebrations and told Jeff Kolpack and Dom Izzo he would be looking to use his one year of eligibility elsewhere.

Head coach Dave Richman addressed the potential of player departures late last week with Izzo.

"It's very fair to say we're going to have scholarships available. What we need to focus on is the right people, and compartmentalize fall and spring recruiting. In the spring, if someone leaves that we need to make sure that they're leaving with some experience post-high school and the talent and character matches that. But they have some experience, maturity and leadership skills to blend that all together."

Hastreiter, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward played just 41 minutes this season. He broke through as a freshman for the Bison, scoring 24 points in his freshman season against Pacific. He set a school-record, making seven three-pointers without a miss. Hastreiter hails from Lincoln, Nebraska and was a highly touted recruit out of high school.

Hastreiter will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Waddles leaves Fargo after two years as well. After starting seven games in 2022-23, Waddles started the first four games of this season, but saw his minutes dwindle as the season went along. His top performance came February 1 in Brookings against the Jackrabbits, scoring 9 points, five of them in overtime in an NDSU road win.

The 6-foot-3 guard originally from Shreveport, Louisiana committed to the Bison two years ago. Waddles had a season-high 26 points against Wisconsin-Stout back in November. He averaged five points per game in 29 games this season.

Streit leaves after three seasons with the Bison. A native of Watkins, Minnesota, Streit was an energy guy off the bench, specifically last season, playing in all 33 games, the only player to do that during the 2022-23 season. Streit saw his minutes decline this season, playing double-digit minutes just two times after December 7.

Streit was known for his rebounding ability, he had a season high six against NCAA Tournament bound Grand Canyon back in November.

Streit will have one year of eligibility to go play at another school.

These departures leave NDSU with eight players on the roster; Eli Bradley, Jacari White, Damari Wheeler-Thomas, Tajavis Miller, Jeremiah Burke, Andrew Morgan, Darik Dissette and Noah Feddersen.

The Bison have signed three high school players for the incoming Class of 2024; Andy Stefonowicz, Treysen Anderson and Isaia Howard.
