Description: FARGO North Dakota State is returning to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament.

The Bison (21-11), by finishing second in the Summit League during the regular season, clinched an automatic berth to the WNIT.

The matchups and game times will be released on Monday.

NDSU was not selected to the brand new 32-team WBIT, which is funded by the NCAA.

The WNIT requires teams to pay an entry fee to the event.

The Bison lost to Oregon 94-56 in the first round of last year’s WNIT.

NDSU reached the Summit League Tournament title game for the first time last week, falling to South Dakota State 67-54.

Head coach Jory Collins told Dom Izzo Friday that "there's a good chance that we could host a game either Wednesday or Thursday."

Fellow Summit League members Oral Roberts and South Dakota have also been selected to the WNIT.

There are several regional teams in the WNIT, led by the University of Minnesota. The Gophers and Bison played in November, a 75-53 Minnesota win.

Illinois State, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa and Northern Colorado all were selected for the WNIT.
