Description: SIOUX FALLS, S.D. South Dakota State is returning to the NCAA women's basketball tournament after a 67-53 win over North Dakota State in the Summit League tournament title game.

The Bison took a 10-6 lead midway thru the first quarter, but had a 3:30 minute dry spell and saw SDSU take a 11-10 lead after the first quarter.

NDSU had another drought in the second quarter without a point, going nearly eight minutes and yet only trailed the Jackrabbits by two, 22-20 at halftime.

The second half saw each team exchange the lead, but NDSU couldn't string consecutive baskets together. The Bison shot just 32 percent for the game.

SDSU started to pull away midway thru the fourth quarter, building a 47-41 lead. Heaven Hamling responded with a personal 5-0 run, that cut the deficit to one.

But NDSU had two critical turnovers that led directly to SDSU baskets, part of a 14-0 run the Jacks went on to close out the game.

Junior guard Paige Meyer was tremendous, scoring 18 points, hitting four huge three-pointers.

Hamling led the Bison with 16 points, Elle Evans struggled to a 13 point performance, going just 6 for 18 from the field.

NDSU a great three-point shooting team during the regular season, struggled to make just three in the game Tuesday.

SDSU wins for the 22nd straight time against the Bison and will make its 13th NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Bison fall to 21-11 and will have to wait until Sunday if they have another game.

The newly formed WBIT, is a 32-team bracket funded by the NCAA, but the selection committee may not take NDSU. The WNIT, which the Bison played in last year, could be an option as well.

The Forum's Jeff Kolpack and Mike McFeely along with WDAY's Dom Izzo recap the game and look ahead to what's next for NDSU.
