SIOUX FALLS, S.D. Four previous times North Dakota State had reached the Summit League semifinals and had lost.
Each time they reached the semifinal round they were considered underdogs in that semifinal contest.
This year though the Bison were the favorite facing a talented and quick third seeded Oral Roberts team. NDSU shook off a couple of Golden Eagle rallies to win, 75-66.
The Bison advanced to the Summit League title game for the first time in school history and will match up with South Dakota State Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
NDSU's top player Elle Evans was plagued by foul trouble against ORU, and was held scoreless until 6:30 to go in the game.
Heaven Hamlin had another tremendous game, scoring 18 points, matched by junior forward Abbie Draper.
The key piece was freshman Avery Koenen, who added 10 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for her second double-double of the season.
NDSU will have a hostile crowd to battle on top off a long losing history with SDSU.
The Bison have lost 21 consecutive games to the Jacks, their last win coming in January 2015.
NDSU has just two wins over SDSU in the Division I level.
