FARGO North Dakota State will have a late-night football date when it plays at the University of Arizona next September. The Bison and Wildcats will kickoff at 10 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, Sept. 17. The game will be televised by Fox Sports 1. The last time the Bison played on that network was in the 2014 season opener at Iowa State, a 34-14 NDSU win that started at 11 a.m. The Bison also appeared on FS1 the previous year in the 24-21 upset win at Kansas State. Meanwhile, NDSU will play all of its home games at 2:30 p.m. at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome with the exception of the 1 p.m. homecoming game against Youngstown. The slate includes Sept. 3 and 10 nonconference games against Drake and North Carolina A&T and other Missouri Valley Football games vs. South Dakota State (Oct. 15), Illinois State (Oct. 29 and North Dakota (Nov. 19), which closes the regular season. The Arizona game represents NDSU's first FBS foe since defeating Iowa in 2016. A scheduled season-opening game in 2020 at the University of Oregon was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be NDSU's first night game against an FBS opponent since a 6 p.m. kickoff at Colorado State in 2012. The Bison also had night games at Iowa State in 2009 and at Kansas in 2010. The Bison play at the University of Colorado in 2024 and the Oregon game was rescheduled for 2028. Like the rest of the NDSU vs. FBS games, the Arizona game is expected to be well attended. NDSU's allotment of 3, 000 tickets is sold out, but single game tickets remain available on the Arizona ticket website. They go on sale to the public at 11 a.m. (CST) next Saturday, June 4. Kay Ternes, NDSU's assistant athletic director for ticket operations, said NDSU recently received an email from the Arizona ticket office saying it is already getting calls for the Bison game. For Arizona, it's probably the least likely game to sell out. It's not the season opener and the only other home nonconference game is the week prior against Mississippi State of the Southeastern Conference, a matchup that will also be aired by FS1 at 8 p.m. local time. The Wildcats have other attractive home games like Oregon, USC and Arizona State. They averaged 34,900 fans in six games last season at 50,782-seat Arizona Stadium. ]]> |
