FARGO North Dakota State added two players to its women's basketball program, head coach Jory Collins announced Friday. The Bison signed guard Leah McKenzie and forward Georgia Baldwin. Both players are from Melbourne, Australia. The 6-foot Baldwin is transferring from Eastern Kentucky, while the 5-foot-8 Mackenzie is coming from Box Hill Senior Secondary College in Mont Albert, Australia. Baldwin and Mackenzie were high school teammates. Mackenzie decommitted from New Mexico State at the same time the Bison were recruiting Baldwin, Collins said. He added NDSU recruited Baldwin out of high school. "We feel very fortunate to get Georgia the second time around and also that Leah became available at the same time," Collins said. "I love their attitudes and mental approach to the game. I can't wait for them to get here and to get to work with them." https://twitter.com/NDSUwbb/status/1525126883813244928?s=20&t=_ETWfZTwN96AgOM_Ru-vtw Baldwin spent the past two seasons at Eastern Kentucky and played in 11 games. She averaged 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while at Box Hill Secondary College. Mackenzie averaged 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game during her career at Box Hill. "We have been working to get a true point guard into the program and Leah is exactly that," Collins said. With the addition off Baldwin and Mackenzie, the Bison have signed eight players this offseason. Forward Abbie Draper, forward Kristina Ekofo, forward Taylor Brown, forward Abby Graham, guard Elle Evans and forward Marwa Bedziri previous signed with the Bison. The Bison had multiple players enter the transfer portal and landed elsewhere after this past season, including Ryan Cobbins who transferred to Alabama, Olivia Skibiel who transferred to Minnesota State Moorhead and Ellie Dague who transferred to St. Thomas. Dague was injured last season and didn't play as a freshman for NDSU. https://twitter.com/NDSUwbb/status/1525128119690178561?s=20&t=_ETWfZTwN96AgOM_Ru-vtw ]]> |
