FARGO After playing 37 road games to open the season, North Dakota State finally got a shot to play on its home field and the Bison didn't waste the moment. A pair of four-run innings helped the Bison defeat Mayville State 10-0 in a game ended after seven innings by the run rule at Newman Outdoor Field. The Bison played 31 games on the road to start the season and scheduled home games against Dakota Wesleyan on April 21 and Valley City State on April 26 both were canceled because of poor weather. On Tuesday, conditions couldn't have been much better and neither could the Bison. Ben Smith started and went an inning, as did Riley Johnson. Winner Caden Edwards and Wyatt Nelson both went two innings and Joey Danielson pitched a clean seventh to end it. Combined, they allowed four hits, walked four and struck out 11. Brock Anderson, Druw Sackett and Logan Williams all had hits and drove in two runs. Peter Brookshaw and Calen Schwabe both had two hits and drove in runs, Cadyn Schwabe had a hit and an RBI and Jack Simonsen doubled. The Bison improved to 25-13 overall and they play three games at No. 5 Miami on May 6-8. ]]> |
