FARGO - Abby Graham thought her chances of playing Division I basketball were over. "Once COVID hit I wasn't really ready to make a decision. The offers I had went away with players coming from the transfer portal." Graham said. But there was one school that was very interested. One of Graham's high school coaches sent an email to North Dakota State with Graham's highlight tape. It didn't take long for Graham to get a response. She came to Fargo in late January for a visit. "It definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I really liked Fargo. Jory (Collins) offered me a scholarship after my visit. I liked it and I committed." Graham is a 5-10 shooting guard from Portland. She is a traditional two guard in a sense, but can play point guard. She is a tremendous three-point shooter. "I love coming off screens just looking to score the ball." Abbygrahampkg Dom Graham is considered one of best players in the state of Oregon. She was a first team all-state selection from St. Mary's Academy, along with being nominated for the McDonald's All-American Game. She had offers from San Diego, Montana, Eastern Washington and Southern Utah, but those offers went away as Graham was making up here mind. When she was her on visit to NDSU, she got a sense of what Collins has in store. "I knew there was something going on. There was something building there and once I talked to Jory he showed me his vision and everything and I was pretty excited about that." https://twitter.com/Abbygr4ham/status/1489472108690239489 Graham will officially sign on Wednesday and will begin a new chapter thousands of miles from home. She knows there's one thing she needs to do before she arrives in Fargo. "I need to be in the best shape of my life. Transitioning to the speed of the game, being in really good shape, not just high school shape, but college shape." Graham is third signee for the NDSU Class of 2022, joining Elle Evans and Marwa Bedziri; each 6-3 forwards that signed with the Bison in November. ]]> |
