Description: FARGO The Athletic's Dane Brugler has become a dependable source for NFL Draft information relating to North Dakota State players. Brugler correctly predicted the San Francisco 49ers picking Bison quarterback Trey Lance with the third overall pick in 2021.

So his annual draft guide, a 288-page behemoth nicknamed "The Beast," is good news for former NDSU offensive lineman Cordell Volson.

It's not as optimistic as some other draft prognosticators for ex-Bison receiver Christian Watson.

"The Beast" offers rankings and scouting reports on 399 prospects and rankings and data for 1,698 prospects. It is, as they say, a deep dive on the 2022 NFL Draft, scheduled for April 28-30 in Las Vegas.

Brugler has Volson, who played mostly right tackle for the Bison in 2021, projected as a sixth-round pick.

Among the comments in Volson's scouting report, Brugler writes: "Overall, Volson is a nondescript athlete, and his technique often breaks down vs. inside/outside speed, but he is smart, tough and finds ways to lose slowly once engaged. A permanent move to guard will help his chances of landing on an NFL roster."

Brugler has Volson as the 18th-best guard available in the draft.

Watson, projected by a handful of draft analysts to go late in the first round, doesn't get that high of a grade from Brugler. He is ranked at the 10th receiver available and projected to go in the second or third round.

"Overall, Watson is unpolished as a route runner and must improve his consistency at the catch point, but he is an intriguing size/speed athlete with the explosiveness to win vertically. He projects as a WR4 as a rookie with WR2 upside and offers kick-return experience," Brugler wrote.

North Dakota's Matt Waletzko is listed No. 20 on the list of top available offensive tackles. Brugler projects him to in the seventh round, citing Waletzko's size and wingspan as positives but labeling him more as a project than a near-finished product.

"Overall, Waletzko has length that cannot be coached along with functional foot/body quickness, but he must continue developing his strength and stature before he is ready for live NFL reps. He has legitimate NFL upside but will require patience," Brugler wrote.

NDSU defensive end Brayden Thomas just misses out at being listed as a priority free agent. He is listed as the 43rd best EDGE rusher available in the draft, meaning he'll likely get a chance in an NFL camp.

UND has four players listed among potential prospects: linebacker Jaxson Turner (110th among linebackers), cornerback Evan Holm (66th among cornerbacks), cornerback Jordan Canady (105th among cornerbacks) and safety Hayden Galvin (123rd among safeties).
