Description: FARGO North Dakota State's men's basketball team will need to find a top assistant coach in addition to several players this offseason.

Associate head coach Kyan Brown, a member of Dave Richman's staff for six seasons and a top recruiter, announced Thursday, April 7, he was leaving the Bison program.

Brown didn't specify what his next job would be, but sources indicate he is headed to fellow Summit League member Omaha to be an assistant under new coach Chris Crutchfield. The pair were assistants together at Oral Roberts under Scott Sutton.



It will make a busy offseason busier for Richman, whose team lost three crucial seniors and two other key players to the transfer portal after advancing to the Summit League tournament championship game in March.



"Turning the page and going into the next chapter was a tough decision for our family but we are forever thankful to the many wonderful people that loved us on our journey!" Brown wrote on Twitter. "Thank you so much! This is not the end, just merely a 'we will be seeing you around soon!'"



Brown came to NDSU after assistant Eric Henderson left for a job at South Dakota State.



Brown was at Oral Roberts for eight seasons before coming to Fargo. He started his tenure at Oral Roberts as the recruiting coordinator before being elevated to an assistant coach prior to the 2012-13 season. Brown spent four years as an assistant at Missouri State and began his collegiate career as an assistant at Arkansas-Fort Smith in 2002.



He played three seasons at Oral Roberts from 1998 to 2001.
