Description: FARGO The best league in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision is about to add another member.

Two sources tell WDAY Sports Director Dom Izzo that Murray State University in Murray, Ky., will be officially added to the Missouri Valley Football Conference for the fall of 2023.

The league presidents met Friday and approved membership for the Racers.

Murray State is re-locating a majority of its programs from the Ohio Valley Conference to the Missouri Valley Conference for this upcoming fall.

The MVC and the MVFC are two separate organizations.

In January, MSU formally sent an application to the Valley school presidents to be considered for membership.

The Racers are coming off a 6-5 season in the Ohio Valley Conference and they have not made the FCS Playoffs since the 2002 season.

Murray State will be the 12th member in the league and the first to join since the University of North Dakota was added in the fall of 2020.

League commissioner Patty Viverito will address the media at 3 p.m. Monday to discuss the addition of the Racers to the MVFC.

It is not known at this time if it was unanimous vote among the presidents for MSU to be granted membership. It is not a simple majority for a school to be added.
