Bison forward Maleeck Harden-Hayes enters the transfer portal

Description: FARGO North Dakota State sophomore forward Maleeck Harden-Hayes has entered the transfer portal, the Moorhead High School graduate announced Monday, March 14, via Twitter.

"First and foremost I would like to thank coach (Dave) Richman and the entire staff at NDSU," Harden-Hayes wrote on his Twitter account. "I want to thank all my teammates, I have a lifetime of memories to hold on to. Fargo will always have a special place in my heart which makes this a very tough decision."



The 6-foot-7 Harden-Hayes averaged 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds and averaged 16.6 minutes per game this past season for the NDSU men's basketball team. The Bison finished with a 23-10 record, losing to South Dakota State in the Summit League tournament championship game.



Harden-Hayes played nine minutes in the Summit League tournament title game against the Jackrabbits, scoring eight points on 3-for-4 shooting from the floor.

Harden-Hayes played in 75 games and made 22 starts during his Bison career. He averaged 5.2 points over three seasons at NDSU. Harden-Hayes has two years of remaining eligibility.



"After a lot of prayer and conversations with my family, it is in my best interest to move on from NDSU," Harden-Hayes added. "With two years of eligibility remaining, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal."



Harden-Hayes played in 30 games this past season, making one start. In 2020-21 he played in 22 games, making 21 starts. In 2020-2021, he averaged 8.8 points and 25.2 minutes per game.




Bison freshman guard Grayson Haman also entered the transfer portal, according to Verbal Commits. The 6-foot-4 Haman, a Fargo Davies graduate, played in 15 games and logged 33 minutes over two seasons with the Bison.
