Description:

Why does self-healing work for some, but not all? When did we decide that the ability to heal ourselves lies in the hands of others? Today’s guest, Dr Lissa Rankin, talks about her brand-new book, “Sacred Medicine: A Doctor's Quest to Unravel the Mysteries of Healing.” She is a traditional medical doctor who has studied extensively with Indigenous people, as well as her study of trauma and recovery. Almost everyone has been traumatized at some point, whether a major traumatic event or through a series of smaller traumatic, stressful moments. Dr Rankin has specifically studied Internal Family Systems, as a way to resolve inner polarization. She has developed a method of teaching trauma-informed medicine and is currently teaching healthcare practitioners. Doctors do not typically treat our many wounded parts, yet our bodies know what to do, if given a chance. So much is present in our collective trauma—political instability, the pandemic, racism, the economy, and much more. Dr Rankin offers ideas of how to begin to heal, as an individual and with healthcare providers working in conjunction. This is Part 1 of the interview.  Info: LissaRankin.com
