Joining me first is the founder and President of the World Trust Educational Services, Dr. Shakti Butler. Her film “Healing Justice” addresses one of the systemic problems in our society that is the school to prison pipeline and we begin the conversation about what is happening right now in our current environment and the racial divide. In order to change a system, we need to first become aware of the system to implement change. Understanding and interrupting the insidious racial divide has hit a crisis point and I finally believe we have reached a point where we cannot pretend this never happened. Voices are being heard and people who have been treated in any way different because of the skin color has become the center of attention rather than simply a “conversation that needs to happen”. Kute Blackson was groomed to follow in his father’s footsteps as the minister of a large church in West Africa, only to realize his heart’s desire was to follow his own voice and to help others realize their full potential. Kute tells his story in his latest book, You. Are. The. One. He joins me in the second half of this show to talk about Leadership, acknowledgement of rage and how to Love More. |
