On this episode of Baseball Outside the Box, coach Caliendo along with coach Percy on the Caliendo Sports 15 u Team America baseball team competing in Cuba discusses many areas of the game starting with what he learned from Cuban baseball players and coaches. They then discuss his coaching philosophies in many areas of the game that he discusses with the team through the week of competition. They do not just cover one topic but from coaching philosophy, base running, hitting, game situations and more. Coach Percy talks about how important having passion for the game makes you a better player. Importance of always learning something new as a coach or player, grow as a person, how to approach a game, routines to have, thinking ahead and playing one pitch at a time. How to approach defense as a position player, 3 facets of the game and the importance of winning two out of the three to win a game, pitching/catching communication and so much more. 

Bill Percy was a player on Florida Southern when they won the 1972 Division II College World Series. He coached for Florida Southern in 1974, Central Missouri State University in 1975, Palmer High School (1978-1983), Mitchell High School (1990-2000) and St. Mary’s High School (2007- ). He was president of the Colorado High School Baseball Coaches Association.
He coached for the US in the 1990 Junior Pan American Games and managed them in the 1996 World Youth Championship. He managed the Croatian national team from 1998-2005 and coached for the British national team in the 2016 European Championship and 2016 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He has also ran clinics in Serbia, Austria and Hungary. He won the Julio Puente Award as top Envoy Coach from Major League Baseball in 2002 and was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2016.
