Description:
Timothy O’Driscoll is employed by Major League Baseball and is the Official Scorer for the Milwaukee Brewers. He had been a teacher and Varsity baseball coach at Arrowhead High school. For 35 years, his teams never had a losing season. He is Past Director of the Center for Economic Education at UWM and the past President of the Global Association of Teachers of Economics and member of the Board of Directors of Economics Wisconsin.  He retired from teaching in 2010.

The “no cheering in the press box” rule was rightfully suspended in the second inning at Miller Park on Saturday, when official scorer Tim O'Driscoll was recognized for presiding over his 2,000th Brewers game. His tenure began in 1987 at County Stadium during Paul Molitor's franchise-record hitting streak (no pressure), and has spanned two stadiums, nine Brewers managers, 29 seasons and countless E-6s.

After pitching four years for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he taught social studies and economics at Hartland Arrowhead High School in the Milwaukee suburbs for 40 years until his retirement in 2010. O'Driscoll coached the school's baseball team for 35 seasons and never had a losing record, clinching 14 conference titles, six trips to the state tournament, two runner-up finishes and winning championships in 1979 and 2009.

He's a member of the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and the Land O'Lakes Baseball Hall of Fame.

O'Driscoll is still involved in education, working to train a new generation of teachers.

Things Discussed:

This show has lots of information about Official Scoring at the Major League level. Can help all coaches, players and parents at all levels understand how to score games, basics, difficult plays and more.
What is it like to score MLB games. How about when you started and now, the difference. What changes have happened in all the years you have been scoring. How has the increase in pitching and bat velocity changed scoring. We cover lots of different plays which happen and how to look at scoring. Scoring is not black and white, it's more gray. Position of players matters. Slow rollers have to be viewed as a tough play. Being a high school baseball coach helps me be a better scorer. How to get better as a scorer? Has the instant replay made the scoring easier? How long do you have to change a play? Extra inning rule, man on second, how to score it. Who gets the win and loss? How has shifts changed scoring? 2 guys stealing, how do you score it? Outfield plays? 3 players converge on a ball, no one touches or catches it, how to score it? As a baseball coach Tim covers Fundamentals, Show Cases, College Scholarships and more.
