Ron was a product of the 1977 KC Royals Academy, with Roy White and UL Washington, all about getting players with skills, running, throwing, etc and developing them, how does this work in todays system with technology, etc. Glove selection and break in, very interesting. Teach hands or feet first? and Why? How to teach the hands? How to teach the feet? Training players to read, react to baseballs in batting practice, how. Pre step, same for everyone? Key areas of it. Transferring the baseball to the hand, technique, teach. Fundamentals, Fundamentals, Fundamentals, KEY. Mind set very important, always a way, fail and figure it out. Simulate the last hop, most important. Some foot work at 1st base. Some Double play footwork. Many times have to field one handed. There are more ways to do one thing, need to figure out which one fits the player. Ask questions, get players input but as a manager remember you are the following say at the end. Dealing with dropped balls, recover and throw, how? Backhand position, how to get to it, teach it. etc. There is more to all this, a must see show.
