We discuss:

We continue this week with the Long Term Athletic Development Program. Tom
Often called the “father of modern pitching mechanics” and a “professor of
throwing,” Dr. Tom House pitched at the professional level for 12 years
before developing a comprehensive, science-based methodology for training
pitchers. Tom House founded the National Pitching Association (NPA) and the
Rod Dedeaux Research and Baseball Institute (RDRBI) to research and
implement human movement, physical preparation, and training programs to
help pitchers and rotational athletes improve their skills. The NPA was
founded on the belief that pitchers have a right to health-first,
scientifically-based programs to gain velocity and functional strength while
reducing the risk of injury. Tom House was one of the first to use mechanics
and athlete motion analysis to develop a practical pitching program for
pitchers and rotational athletes, which has evolved into the National
Pitching program for athletes. Areas of discussion continues in the Windows
of Trainability and the importance of following them so players prolong
their time in the game. Tom goes over the windows of trainability and the
functions within each window like, movements, functional strength, skill
acquisition, and skill retention. How do the windows of trainability match
up with the over all season. When is the best time of the day to train for
optimal results. Recovery includes hydration, nutrition, and more. The power
of sleep and some protocols to follow. When sleeping the room Temperature,
dark and if you wake up during the night. Sleep is very important part of
the recovery process. Is it better to pitch a game in one day or 10-15
pitches a day for 3-4 days? The stretch and the windup, when young an
struggling to throw strikes, good to go from the stretch? Japanese players
been training movement patterns, functional strength, flexibility and more
for hundreds of years. Arm injuries, one major result if velocity and the
arm cannot withstand the pressure? Careful with pitchers pitching that are
left handed catchers and they are hitting, lots of stress on the throwing
arm. If you are to take a position player from the field during a game and
pitch them, what is the best way to do it to make sure they are warmed up.
The curveball can be thrown at any age as long as they are taught the
correct way and its very easy to teach. Learn from the master
